Senior Community Planner

Overview The Senior Community Planner plays a critical role in shaping sustainable and functional communities through comprehensive planning processes. This position not only involves developing and implementing planning strategies but also engages with various stakeholders to ensure that the community’s needs and aspirations are effectively addressed. The Senior Community Planner will conduct thorough research, analyze data, and propose development plans that align with the organization's vision and regulatory requirements. This role acts as a bridge between the community, government entities, and private developers, facilitating dialogue and cooperation. By promoting evidence-based decision-making, the Senior Community Planner significantly contributes to achieving the organization's goals of enhancing quality of life, safeguarding environmental integrity, and fostering economic development. Additionally, this position requires strong leadership abilities to oversee junior planners and coordinate planning efforts across multiple projects. In a rapidly evolving urban landscape, the Senior Community Planner is essential in navigating challenges and harnessing opportunities within the community. Key Responsibilities Lead community planning projects from concept to implementation. Conduct land use studies and analyze community needs. Develop comprehensive plans and zoning regulations. Engage with stakeholders to gather input and foster collaboration. Prepare and present reports to local government and community boards. Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for data analysis. Review and evaluate development proposals for compliance. Coordinate with environmental specialists on impact assessments. Facilitate public meetings and workshops to educate the community. Mentor junior planners and provide guidance on projects. Collaborate with other departments and agencies on planning initiatives. Stay informed on current planning trends and regulatory changes. Recommend policy changes to improve community planning practices. Ensure projects adhere to budgetary constraints and timelines. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of implemented plans. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field. Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in community planning. Strong understanding of zoning laws and regulations. Proficiency in GIS and relevant planning software. Previous experience in stakeholder engagement and public presentations. Experience in project management and leadership. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices. Familiarity with demographic and socioeconomic data analysis. Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
