Job Description In this senior capacity, the Principal Metadata Analyst architects and oversees the deployment of unified metadata and data catalog solutions, integrating structured and unstructured data sources across multiple platforms. The incumbent defines and enforces metadata standards, taxonomies, and governance policies, and is accountable for aligning metadata practices with broader organizational data strategy and regulatory requirements. This role involves building and maintaining contextual metadata catalogs that support robust search, discovery, and trust in data assets, enabling stakeholders to access and leverage data efficiently for business decision-making, compliance, and advanced analytics. The Principal Metadata Analyst conducts technology assessments, evaluates and recommends Metadata management tools, and leads trade-off analyses to ensure optimal solutions are selected and implemented. Collaboration is central to this position. The Principal Metadata Analyst works closely with data stewards, business stakeholders, IT teams, and executive leadership to drive metadata initiatives, ensuring transparency and effective communication regarding metadata practices and goals. This role provides thought leadership when partnering with Data Architecture and Enterprise Architecture teams, contributing to the development of business strategies, roadmaps, and governance standards that support enterprise-wide data management outcomes. In addition to strategic vision and advanced technical skills, the Principal Metadata Analyst demonstrates the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams in adopting Metadata best practices. The role is also responsible for mentoring and developing other data management analysts, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement, and delivering tangible value from the organization's data strategy. How You'll Spend Your Time • You will define a metadata strategy aligned with business goals, including standards, taxonomies, and governance policies. • You will build a unified metadata catalog that integrates business, technical, and operational metadata. • You will leverage AI to automate metadata processes such as extraction, classification, lineage mapping, and anomaly detection. • You will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure metadata quality and lead training initiatives for adoption. • You will create data contracts and implement automated lineage tracking to support transparency and compliance. Education & Experience Requirements This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field of study.and 10+ years in data management, metadata governance, or enterprise data architecture. • Mastery of metadata tools, data catalogs, and lineage platforms • Mastery of Gen AI, LLMs, or agentic AI frameworks • Strong understanding of data contracts, data quality, and governance frameworks • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills BOK Financial Corporation Group is a stable and financially strong organization that provides excellent training and development to support building the long term careers of employees.
