Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Tutor (Level 2) to join our team at Onondaga Community College's Learning Center. As a tutor, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve academic success by providing individualized support and guidance in a specific course or discipline. Key Responsibilities: Tutor students in a course or discipline of expertise, providing individualized support and guidance to help students understand key concepts and achieve academic success. Work with students who may be experiencing difficulties or stress, providing a supportive and non-judgmental learning environment. Help students develop self-confidence and independence in their learning, by providing positive feedback, encouragement, and helpful tools. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of tutoring sessions, and participate in periodic training and staff meetings. Collaborate with course instructors and departments to ensure that tutoring services align with course requirements and learning objectives. Requirements: Earned Associate's degree or higher in a related field of study. Final grade of B+ (3.3 GPA) or higher in the course(s) you wish to tutor, or equivalent related coursework at another regionally accredited institution. Overall Cumulative GPA of B (3.0 GPA) or higher. Written recommendation from a professor or faculty member in the course/discipline. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to tutor multiple courses. Higher-level coursework in the discipline than that which you wish to tutor. Prior experience working with students one-on-one or in small groups. Experience working with diverse populations, including those learning the English language. Participation in College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification training. Bilingual in English and Spanish, or English and another language.
