Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Part-time Senior Assistant to join our team at Brooklyn Public Library Services, where you will play a vital role in enriching the lives of older adults in our community. As a key member of our Services for Older Adults team, you will have the opportunity to develop and facilitate engaging programs, foster meaningful connections, and make a lasting impact on the lives of our patrons. Key Highlights: Competitive hourly rate of $15 Flexible part-time schedule with up to 10 hours per week, allowing for a healthy work-life balance Remote work arrangement, providing the convenience and comfort of working from home Collaborative and supportive work environment, where your contributions will be valued and recognized Opportunity to work with a diverse audience, promoting inclusivity and social connection among older adults Job Responsibilities: As a Part-time Senior Assistant, you will be responsible for: Planning and presenting programs and activities that encourage participation and library usage among older adults Assisting teaching artists with Creative Aging programs, managing program supplies, and ensuring seamless execution Gathering attendance data, surveys, and relevant information to inform program evaluation and improvement Communicating effectively with the Services for Older Adults team, managing administrative duties, and maintaining accurate records Representing Brooklyn Public Library Services for Older Adults at community meetings and outreach activities, promoting our services and building partnerships Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should possess: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds Strong team player mentality, with a willingness to adapt to the needs of patrons with and without disabilities A genuine desire to work with older adults and people with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and social connection Proficiency in computer skills, including email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and other virtual platforms Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following skills and qualifications are highly valued: Bilingual language skills, including Sign Language, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cantonese, Mandarin, Bengali, Urdu, Polish, and Russian Our Commitment to You: We prioritize candidate privacy, champion equal-opportunity employment, and strive to foster a fair, transparent, and secure hiring environment for all.
