Vanguard College Preparatory School in Waco, TX, is accepting applications for an IT Specialist & Computer Science Instructor faculty position. This position is full-time, Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM – 4:00 PM (altered summer hours). Vanguard College Preparatory School is seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Specialist & Computer Science Instructor to manage the school’s technology infrastructure, teach computer science courses, and oversee the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT support, cybersecurity, instructional technology, and STEM education, with a passion for inspiring students in computer science and robotics. Position Begins: June 1, 2025 (Can be reviewed for adjustment approval based on need.) . Key Responsibilities IT Support & Technology Management: • Manage and maintain the school’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and classroom technology. • Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students, troubleshooting hardware and software issues. • Ensure cybersecurity best practices and data privacy compliance. • Maintain and update school technology policies and procedures. • Oversee the school’s Learning Management System (LMS) and educational software. • Assist with technology integration in the classroom to enhance learning experiences. Computer Science Instruction: • Develop and teach high school-level computer science courses, including introductory and advanced topics such as programming, cybersecurity, and data science. • Create engaging and hands-on curriculum aligned with educational standards. • Foster computational thinking, problem-solving skills, and collaboration among students. • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in computer science and STEM education. FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Program: • Serve as the lead mentor/coach for the school's FTC robotics team. • Guide students in designing, building, and programming robots for competition. • Coordinate team meetings, practice sessions, and competition participation. • Foster teamwork, innovation, and leadership within the robotics program. • Secure funding and sponsorships to support the robotics program, as needed. • Engage with the broader robotics and STEM community to enhance learning opportunities. Preferred Qualifications & Skills include : • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. • Experience in IT support, system administration, and cybersecurity. • Experience with the following: Apple-based products, Meraki Networks, and Google Education Workspace • Teaching experience at the high school or college level preferred. • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++. • Experience with robotics platforms such as FTC, VEX, or FRC is a plus. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. • Passion for STEM education and technology innovation.
