Entry-Level Purchasing Associate

Job Title: Entry-Level Purchasing Associate. Location: Troy, Michigan. Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary. Reports to: Purchasing Manager. Supports: Matcor Matsu Group & Matcor Metal Fabrication. About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Purchasing Associate for a temporary full-time position lasting approximately 6 to 12 months. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals who have recently completed a co-op or internship in purchasing, supply chain, or a related business function. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience supporting the purchasing team across multiple manufacturing facilities while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The position is based in our Troy, MI office and reports directly to the Purchasing Manager. Key Responsibilities: • Assist with RFQ, quote analysis, and purchase order (PO) placement. • Support cost reduction initiatives across various facilities. • Help create and manage new POs in collaboration with Buyers. • Communicate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve commercial issues. • Participate in sourcing projects supporting 12 facilities. • Assist in creating spreadsheets, analyzing data, and preparing reports. • Maintain department documentation and internal drives. • Assist in maintaining purchasing procedures and IATF records. • Provide support with OEM portal reporting (e.g., diversity reports, resale lists). • Follow up on supplier responses for RFQs and RFPs. • Support in managing supply chain tasks and other special assignments (e.g., supplier risk management). Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (required). • Exposure to purchasing or supply chain functions through an internship, co-op, or prior work experience (preferred). • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. • Solid communication and interpersonal skills. • Analytical thinker with attention to detail. • Position start date: May, 2025.
