Job Overview The FEMA THIRA (Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) position is a critical role focused on enhancing community resilience through effective emergency management strategies. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to assess risks, develop programs, and ensure preparedness for potential threats. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and be adept in public health initiatives, program management, and volunteer coordination. Duties • Conduct comprehensive assessments of potential threats and hazards affecting communities. • Develop and implement emergency management programs that align with federal guidelines. • Lead public speaking engagements to educate communities about risk preparedness and response strategies. • Write grant proposals to secure funding for emergency management initiatives. • Manage volunteers effectively to support program implementation and community outreach efforts. • Collaborate with public health officials to integrate health considerations into emergency management planning. • Oversee budgeting processes for various projects, ensuring financial accountability and transparency. • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to enhance community awareness of emergency preparedness. Requirements • Proven experience in emergency management or a related field. • Strong public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences. • Experience in grant proposal writing to secure funding for initiatives. • Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing teams and coordinating volunteers. • Knowledge of program management principles and practices. • Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial oversight in project management. • Understanding of public health issues as they relate to emergency preparedness and response. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on collaboration.
