**Experienced Procurement Professional – Buyer Role in Kansas School District with Remote Work Option**

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our team in the Olathe Unified School District, Kansas. As a Buyer, you will play a critical role in promoting the effective use of school district funds and ensuring the procurement of high-quality goods and services. About the Role As a Buyer in our Procurement Department, you will be responsible for procuring or coordinating the procurement of various commodities and services, assisting staff in defining needs and developing alternative solutions, and providing exceptional customer service to both vendors and district end-users. Key Responsibilities * Process bidding documents, including Request for Bids (RFB) and Request for Proposal (RFP), in accordance with federal and state laws, and Board of Education policies. * Ensure commodity or service is procured at the greatest value available to the school district. * Obtain quotes from vendors to assist in the procurement process for district end-users. * Process requisitions to purchase orders and assure accuracy of orders based on department needs. * Confirm vendor receipt of order and follow-up on orders as necessary. * Establish and maintain term and supply contracts for departmental utilization. * Manage contract administration, including vendor price adjustment requests and vendor contract compliance issues. * Work with user departments to review supplier performance prior to term and supply contract renewals. * Exhibit excellent customer service and maintain professional relations with all internal and external clients and vendors. * Prioritize and schedule projects as required to meet user department needs. * Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements * Associate's degree in a related business field is desired. * Two years (minimum) of related procurement experience in a public education setting is preferred. * Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures. * Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills. * Ability to organize and prioritize multiple, complex projects simultaneously. * High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality. * Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment. * Highly collaborative team player. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.). * Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results. Physical Requirements * This position requires the performance of sedentary work. * The position involves regularly requiring sitting, walking, and standing; talking and hearing, both in person, by telephone, and other electronic means; use of hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. * The position also requires written and oral communication skills; ability to work under pressure; effective interpersonal skills; ability to diffuse conflict; commitment to accuracy; attention to detail; strong organizational skills; flexibility; and ability to work fluently within various types of software (ERP systems specifically, including function-specific modules).
