We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced ESL Campus Immersion Tutor who is fluent in Swahili to join our team in Houston, TX. About the Opportunity As an ESL Campus Immersion Tutor with SiSTEM Tutoring Agency, you will play a pivotal role in providing one-on-one academic support to students across various subjects, with a particular emphasis on those preparing for their STAAR exams in Science, Social Studies, Math, and Reading. This is a contract position that offers a competitive hourly rate between $15 and $27, based on your education and experience. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement personalized lesson plans to cater to the academic needs of students. Provide one-on-one tutoring in a face-to-face environment at designated school campuses across Houston, TX. Assess student progress, identifying areas of improvement and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly. Communicate effectively with parents and teachers to ensure a collaborative approach to student development. Mentor students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages academic excellence. Utilize technology, such as email, texting, Slack, and Google Sheets/Excel, to stay organized and communicate with the SiSTEM team. Work with up to 15 students at a time, adapting your teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of your students. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must: Be eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid Social Security Number. Have a strong educational background, with at least 60 credit hours completed, a Bachelor's degree, or higher. Be a certified teacher with SBEC or other state licensure certification, or a retired teacher with relevant certification. Possess 1-2 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, or tutoring in a classroom or school environment. Be bilingual and fluent in Swahili, with excellent interpersonal skills to relate to students from diverse backgrounds. Have reliable transportation and be able to attend in-person tutoring sessions in a timely manner. Be technologically savvy and able to use digital tools for communication and organization. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous experience working with students who are learning to speak English. Expertise in Elementary, Middle, or High school subjects, particularly in Math, Science, Social Studies, or Reading. A demonstrated history of making a positive impact on students' academic journeys.
