Job Summary The Data Science Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, processes, and frameworks to unite and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data. This role will oversee the daily operational activities that create and execute strategic plans for a determined region, direct team(s) assigned to projects, and ensure that resources are accurately allocated according to strategic plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Key Responsibilities Develops, creates, and carries out strategies, processes, and frameworks to unite and analyze various data sets, including structured and unstructured data. Oversees the daily operational activities that create and execute strategic plans for a determined region, directs team(s) assigned to projects, and ensures that resources are accurately allocated according to strategic plans. Plans, creates, and carries out techniques, cycles, and frameworks to unite and break down assorted informational indexes, including organized and unstructured data. Proceeds as a subject matter expert and may act as a point of acceleration and become effectively involved, as expected, to meet timelines and resolve issues profoundly complex in nature. Oversees issues proactively, including convenient goal and the identifiable identification of remediation valuable opportunities. Creates programming programs, algorithms, dashboards, data tools, and queries to clean, model, integrate, and evaluate datasets. Stays informed about new scientific techniques and innovations. Collaborates with functional specialty units to drive business solutions and direction. Establishes credibility with partners while managing expectations, ensures regular, consistent, and effective communications with colleagues and partners to define expectations and arrange boundaries properly. May foster a budget for a practical region, oversees the budget to design, and may be responsible for the region's budget and delivering against business objectives/goals. Keeps up-to-date with industry-leading best practices and brings them to the attention of the leadership group for creative application. Allocates available resources to meet working targets, creates and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training, and development opportunities, and performance management processes. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline. Experience with analysis and statistical software like SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, and/or others to perform analysis and interpret data. Deep knowledge of SQL and open-source data science and statistics packages like Python, R, Spark, etc. Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external (business community, clients, and vendors) partners within a matrix organization to develop strategies that meet office objectives within budget and timelines. At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. At least 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership. Able to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within the state and out of state). Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline. Experience communicating at the executive level. Experience leading cross-functional teams.
