Remote Full-time
About Paxos Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it. We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like Mastercard, Visa, Robinhood, and PayPal. About the team The Compliance team at Paxos serves as the guardian of regulatory integrity in the digital asset space, ensuring our innovative blockchain infrastructure meets the highest standards of financial regulation. Our team tackles complex challenges at the intersection of traditional financial compliance and cutting-edge blockchain technology, building robust systems that protect both Paxos and our clients from financial crime. We work closely with engineering, product and legal teams to implement compliance solutions that scale with Paxos' growth while maintaining regulatory excellence. Our work directly enables Paxos to serve major financial institutions with confidence, knowing that every transaction is monitored and protected according to global regulatory standards. About the role As Compliance Operations Lead - Transaction Monitoring, you'll own the critical infrastructure that keeps Paxos compliant with global anti-money laundering regulations while supporting our mission to democratize finance. You'll manage sophisticated monitoring systems that analyze both traditional fiat and blockchain transactions, identifying suspicious activity and ensuring regulatory reporting meets the highest standards. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape compliance operations at the forefront of financial technology, working with cutting-edge transaction monitoring tools while building processes that can scale with Paxos' rapid growth. You'll collaborate across teams to balance operational excellence with strategic innovation, directly impacting how digital assets are safely integrated into the global financial system. What you'll do • Own and manage Paxos' comprehensive transaction monitoring program, including annual red flags assessments and implementation of new regulatory guidance • Oversee contractor staffing and performance, ensuring L2 review processes meet quality standards and regulatory expectations • Translate complex blockchain and fiat transaction data into actionable insights and risk-based recommendations for leadership • Develop and maintain documentation for monitoring procedures, ensuring clear narrative-building for regulatory examinations • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to implement real-time monitoring improvements that enhance customer experience • Monitor emerging regulatory developments and industry best practices, proactively adapting monitoring strategies to stay ahead of compliance requirements About you • 4+ years of experience in BSA/AML compliance, with deep understanding of FATF guidance and global regulatory expectations • Demonstrated experience with both blockchain and fiat transaction monitoring systems and suspicious activity reporting processes • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and risk-based recommendations • Experience balancing operational output with strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve how you work • SQL proficiency for data analytics, metrics and dashboard reporting preferred Pay and benefits Paxos offers a competitive total compensation and benefits package, including equity and bonuses based on both your individual performance and company performance.
